Babies: 9 - 12 Months

10 month old..not crawling..not pulling up..

I don't post often but I was wondering if anyone had experience with their 10 month old not crawling or pulling up.  She sits just fine, will walk for hours if you hold her hands but just hasn't figured anything else out yet. She doesn't even go up on all fours....she will learn forward and then plop on her belly and scream...

At what point should i be concerned? perhaps low muscle tone? I dunno...any thoughts and advice would be must appreiciated!

  • My babysitter's daughter didn't crawl until11 months old, and then started pulling up and walking within a month.  Every baby develops differently, try not to stress

  • Does she get around any other way? like rolling, scooting etc? D does this and I was concerned but the doctor says that there are some babies that just don't care to crawl. Especially if they are getting around in other ways. Unfortunately I don't know about when to be concerned but I am sure your pedi would have some answers for you :)

  • My son didn't do either until 3 days and 1 day short of 10 months.  He made weak crawling attempts and none at pulling up, but could sit and walk assisted forever.  Then one morning he was just standing there all proud in his crib.  Crawling was two days later and he never got on all fours before that.

He has been a crawling, mobile machine in the past 5 weeks.  Don't panic.  She'll be fine.

  • DS doesn't crawl, pull up, or even stand well assisted. I do get worried but he seems to be getting very close to crawling, although I've been saying that for months. I just try to give him all of the opportunities to learn and hopefully he will figure it out. My pedi would be concerned if he wasn't doing any of that by 12 months.

  • I'm in the same boat.  DD will be 10 months on Monday and is not crawling or pulling up.  She loves to sit and play with toys and gets around by rolling.  I do worry a little, especially when I see the other babies her age at daycare crawling, but I'm sure she'll get there in her own time.

This exactly!  Almost 11 months and no crawling, standing, even assisted or pulling up.  Just make sure you are giving her the space to move on her own.  I was always sitting with her and once I left her more "alone" and let her be independent, we saw a lot of difference.  They all get there in their own time.

  • My LO was at the last week of her 9th month before she started crawling. I don't know if this is true or not, but I think the reason she was slow to crawl was because I held her a lot and she wasn't on the floor a lot to begin with. So therefore she got a little behind because she didn't have that time just hanging out on the floor, pushing up and rolling around. She used to HATE tummy time too.

When she was 7 months - 9 months, she got around by scooting on her butt. But she only got short distances (like she scooted around a small portion of the living room). I think this satisfied her because she could reach different toys around her and she was cool with that. But then she realized she could get on all 4's and she realized she could actually move better that way and see more/get into more that way.

Anyway, now she's 11 months and she crawls everywhere. A week after she started crawling, she pulled up to a stand. She's done it a few more times but doesn't do it all the time like other babies. But I'm sure this too will come with time.

I don't know if this is true either, but I'm thinking it may be genetics. My Mom said I didn't crawl until 9 or 10 months and didn't walk until 14 months. I'm sure she won't be walking for a few months either judging where she's at now. And you know what, that's ok.

  • LO is just over 10 months.  He does not crawl or stand.  He will stand if we help him though.  He rolls like a maniac, and scoots a little. No one is worried.  They won't be 5 and still rolling around.  I am trying to enjoy the sanity while I can, though I do cheer him on anytime it looks like he may be motoring around.
