April 2012 Moms

How much are you paying for a 3D ultrasound?

Or how much have you paid if you already got one?

They're $100+ around here and it just seems crazy. I was going to ask for it for Valentine's Day instead of going out to a nice dinner or getting a gift from DH.

Geez a whole hour?! The ones I've been seeing are 15-20 min for the same price! I'm jealous.

  • Mine was $149 for 30 min, cd, DVD, prints (5 color and a bunch of b/w) and a bag that had coupons and other free sample baby stuff. I didn't shop around for places and this one was open saturdays which we wanted so our parents could go. It was a really nice facility and I was very happy with their service.

  • We live in a small town...so I really only have one option of where to get them and that is at the hospital.  My insurance won't cover it, so it would be at $300 for the u/s then another fee for the radiologist to read it...I would LOVE to get them, but I just can't justify spending that when there is so much more to buy for LO!!  It sucks! :(

  • I'm sorry yours are so expensive. I guess I've been spoiled. Every time I go to my doc for an u/s, we get a black and white 2D photo and few 3D photos. Round about way, I bet my 3D photos are thousands of dollars, but they're covered by insurance.

I hope you can find somewhere that's reasonable. They really are cool!

    Good luck.

  • Thanks guys! I guess the prices I'm seeing are par for the course then. This will help convince DH it's worth it! :)

  • They're crazy cheap in Austin compared to what y'all are saying here. They're about $65 for 20 minutes with a DVD. You can pay more for more time and prints, too.

One thing I've seen is several places advertising on Craigslist in the baby section with things like, "Mention this ad and receive X amount off." I've been stalking several nearby cities for a few baby items and seen ads in all of those towns. Try searching your local Craigslist for something like that.

  • We live in a smaller area, and the only local place that does it is REALLY cheap compared to all of you. It's like $60 for 30 mins and you get 10 prints, plus you can bring up to 10 people for their theater room. And for $30 more you can get a DVD. Plus they give you a goodie bag with awesome coupons for massages, manicures and pedicures, and BRU.

We still decided not to do extra ultrasounds though. Feels like a waste since it's such a good deal!

  • I live in the twin cities area of MN, and the package I bought was $270, this includes two 1 hour sessions, dvds of both sessions, about 10 photos from each and I get a newborn photography session as well.

  • I feel spoiled reading these prices! I work in radiology and I'm the only pregnant gal in our dept. We just got the 3D us apps so I spent the last 2 days being the "model" for all the techs to learn from. I got some really great pics on a cd to take home with me. Can't wait to show dh.

  • The only local place we have charges around 200 bucks. As much as I'd love to have one done for Maddy, I can't justify spending that much on a 3D ultrasound when I have to go to MFM for regular ultrasounds every 6 weeks anyway. :(

  • $89 for 20 mins, up to 20 color prints and an 8x10.

  • MIne was 80 dollars for an hour and it included a DVD and like 20 pictures.

  • Mine was 80 dollars as well, it included 20 minute session, a cd that has still picutres on it, a cd that was like a movie which included measurements and such and we got I think about 10 ultrasound type pictures.  We saved our Christmas money, my DH wanted it worse than I did, he had to see his little girl again to make him quit stressing.  Totally worth it for us.
  • $150 plus tax (about 160 total) for about 30 minutes, although mine was more like 45 minutes, 5 printed pictures, a CD with 65 pictures, and a 15 minute 4d DVD.
