We started our very first medicated cycle over the weekend. (50mg of Clomid + TI) I took my last pill on Wednesday and my first official monitering appointment was this morning. Over all, it was pretty smooth, I guess.
Lining was around a 4. (Doc says low but it's still early) I have a couple follicles (is that right?) on my right side all small under 10. On my left there's more going on, the largest was an 11. RE says to start OPK's on Monday. If I get a positive, bang it out EOD. If no positive by Wed. come back on Thurs morning to check my progress.
All of this is good I think. I'm not sure what I expected but I feel like something is missing. On my previous appt, the nurse said that I will come in today for a check and then return every few days. The RE this morning said only return if no positive OPK by x day. If I get a + then I don't have to come back. I guess I thought "timed intercourse" would be a bit more instructive/planned. How is this any different than what we were doing before (in terms of the sex not meds)? Am I just over analyzing?
This is probably all completely normal but would you ladies mind sharing with me how you meds+TI monitering went?
Re: Ist monitering appointment, talk to me about TI
I am currently on my 2nd round of monitored clomid. The 1st round I had 2 monitoring appointments. 1 where we had what you have. I had one 4 days later. That one showed that I had already ovulated. We happened to have good timing - and got a BFP, but I miscarried.
So, now the 2nd round - monitored once at CD13. No follies measurable. He didn't want to see me again. "But hopefully we won't have to worry about Clomid again and you will call me with good news" So, I guess I was in the same boat you are. If you think I am going to O, don't you want to see me again for another u/s? I did end up O. Not so good timing, but it's so hard when you don't have a FW...you just have never ending limbo. Of course now I am worried that I released 4 eggs or something, and there is no way for us to know that right now.
IMO - you won't get a positive before Wednesday, so you will be back next week. Which is fine. Basically Clomid with TI is just giving us the same chance that people with a regular cycle have. You are just hoping you have good timing. I don't think it's any different than you were doing before - it's just giving you a stronger O?

Exactly! I think not knowing when my next appointment is is what has me uneasy. If I O before Wednesday, Does that mean I won't come back until CD1? That's not the type of monitering that I was expecting.
I agree that I don't think I'll O by wednesday so this is probably not even an issue.
Thank you for your response, it's good to know that someone else is in my boat!
Yes, my RE does Clomid cd 2-6. I never really considered using OPK's as TI. But I guess that is what we've been attempting all along, timing intercourse with ovulation. Makes total sense.
I think I built up this treatment cycle in my head to be way more advanced than it is. This is all so new to me I feel like a beginning TTCer again.
Most people who are beginning TTC'ers don't know an ounce of the knowledge we do. I am in the closet and when I hear some people talk about their TTC journey, it makes me cringe.
Anyways - OPK's are not that accurate with PCOS. Mine almost always look positive, but when they are actually positive, there is barely a control line. But it's confusing, because non PCOSers would call it positive, while I have to wait until the line is incredibly dark to call it positive.
The +TI seems like it's a protocol or instruction...it's not, it's just life and trying to have a baby!
Good luck. Keep us posted. I hope it works out for you.
