How long have you had it?
And have you ever damaged it or had anything modified?
I've had mine 8 years. No intentional changes, but we were loading 2x4s in the truck, I was wearing those heavy leather work gloves and smashed my hand, and a stone fell out (mind you this is like 9pm in the home depot parking lot in the winter). Fortunately the stone was in the glove and I got it fixed no problem, I also got it replated, which I'm thinking it is due for again. And we replaced my wedding band, we bought the first one in a rush and the diamond chips were literally falling out (it was so cheap)!
Re: Your e-ring
I've had mine 8.5 years. For some reason, DH didn't believe my ring size, even though he was with me the day I was measured, and ordered my ring a size too big. Because the band is engraved, it had to be sent back to the company for resizing. I did notice when I first got it that one of the side diamonds was a little yellow, but it didn't really bother me. When I got it back from the resizing, I saw that the company had replaced the bad diamond. Worked for me!
Other than that, no issues. I try to take it back to the jewelry store where he purchased it to have them clean it and check the prongs. I think they tightened the prongs once, and haven't needed to since.
Well...I've had my ring since 2009. DH upgraded my orignial e-ring right after having LO. I got my first e-ring in 2003; we were broke, right out of college & he bought what he could afford. I loved that ring!! But it was one of those 3 stone rings but each "stone" was really a quad setting (4 little diamonds set together to appear as one larger stone) Unfortunately, I lost 1 stone & when the jewler fixed it he added a glob of gold to the top to hold the diamond in place. Totally ruined my ring...I was p!ssed & they wouldn't fix it! So after a 2nd diamond fell out DH said we'd just get me a new one!
Now I have a 3 stone cushion cut that he picked out himself, which is beautiful. However, it doesn't even remotely go with my wedding band...and since I've gained weight my band doesn't even fit me anymore. These days I just the one ring that fits.
I've had it 11 years. It was a 4 prong setting. There was a six month period where I stopped wearing it because one of the prongs was loose and we didn't have the extra money to get it fixed. When I finally brought it in, they charged me $12 to replace the prong. I was ticked that I waited so long. About a year later I had another loose prong. The jeweler suggested that I change to a 6 prong setting because if one prong bends you aren't going to lose the diamond like you could with the 4 prong setting.
I have a wedding band, e-ring and a wrap. When I was pregnant with my oldest I had to stop wearing all of them. With my youngest I was able to wear just the band right up until the last week.
I'm the newb! I've have mine for almost 2 years and have had it re-dipped twice already. White gold just gets dull so fast. I have it checked and cleaned every six months. I did end up having the center stone upgraded just before the wedding and LOVE it!! I still have to have it appraised with the new stone and get insurance put on it (or add it specifically to the homeowner's policy with the new appraisal). The only damage was a loose stone that was found the very first time it was checked... I was so annoyed that there was a problem so soon, but they fixed it right away and I have had no problems since.
I also have a cheapie "fake" set that I got for $25 online. I wear the fake some days to work, when we go on trips and when I send the real set off to be re-dipped, which I plan to do about once a year (it's free with our protection package). I am also just super paranoid of losing my real set or wrecking it at work (I wash my hands about a bajillion times a day at the hospital). It looks the exact same as the real one. Cracks me up.
