Itching....

Okay so the bottom of my feet and the palms of my hands starting itching really bad last night. My stomach is a little itchy but I can handle that. Any one know of anything I can do to get my hands and feet to stop itching. I couldn't sleep last night because of the itching driving me crazy.

No I didn't change my lotion or soap or anything else. I didn't get any itching with my last pregnancy, so I'm not sure what caused or causes this. But any relief would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks Smile

Re: Itching....

  • While I don't know how to fix it, I do feel your pain. The bottoms of my feet itch and it's very annoying. My right palm itches but it's a little bit of my eczema flaring up. I put lotion on them and it helps for just a little bit.

  • call your doctor.  It could be a sign that there's something wrong with your liver.  I complained about itching and my doctor ran a quick blood test to confirm that my levels were okay.

  • could be pupps? My doc said benadryl was ok including the cream. Also can try an oatmeal bath. Feel better!

This and the PP.  Pupps is the lighter of the the two evils.  The blood test is to rule out OB coleostasis which like Jr said is an issue with your liver.

DO NOT GOOGLE THAT! I made that mistake when my doc first mentioned it and ran the blood test.  Test came back fine, but the itching has gotten worse Sad Benedryl helps me sleep through the itching at night, but the cream does nothing for my itching, but it doesn't hurt to try.

  • I had the exact same thing with my first pregnancy and it was Cholestasis of Pregnancy.  Often the most present symptom is your hands and feet itching.  Nothing like Benedryl would touch it.  If you google it, the information you're going to see is scary.  I started itching in other places last weekend and they started me right on the 2 meds they give you.  They'll run a liver panel and also take your bile acids, but that bloodwork takes around a week to do usually.  The liver panel is normal bloodwork time.  If it is Cholestasis, be prepared for monitoring, I had to see a high risk doctor last time, who ordered 3x a week NST, and 2x a week biophysical profiles, then induced me at 39 weeks.

This. I'm waiting on my levels back as I type. Sad I hope they come back normal.

Apparently oatmeal baths help (not for me), cocoa butter helps (not for me), Benedryl helps (not for me), but what I did find helps is Lubriderm extra dry lotion. Weird. Vitamin E oil also helps.
