So I have a buyer for my Camry and she wants to pay me with a cashier's check. I don't get any sort of shady feeling from her at all--we've met in person. Is it OK to accept this instead of cash? Could I get swindled?
Not sure if you could get swindled...maybe call a bank and ask them how you can verify it? I think typically a cashier's check is what to use for this type of transaction.
I don't think I would..or I wouldn't give her the car unless you went to the bank together. There are so many scams with cashiers checks these days..especially on craigslist..is that where you listed it?
If she can get a cashiers check, she can get cash. Personally, I wouldn't sell other than for cash, or just not hand over the keys till the check clears.
Don't do it. Working in banking for so long I can tell you that money orders and cashiers checks came back fraudelent more than anything else. Like others said go with her to the bank.

i wouldn't take anything but cash either. and also, remember to take the old license plates off the car and go with the buyer to the tax office to make sure she registers the car.

Yep. Do that. When we sold our boat we went to SA to the guy's bank to make sure it was legit.
(read it. you know you want to.)
