why does she do this in her sleep?

DD had been sleeping pretty well the past week or so at night, usually only waking up once for a diaper change and a snack. Well she wakes me up by putting her feet up in the air and doing all sorts of grunting. I thought at first maybe it was gas, but most of the time no gas comes out. She sleeps swaddled if that makes any difference. Any ideas on why she might be doing this and what I can do to make her stop?

  • No help here, but my LO does the same thing...grunts and kicks and makes a big racket.

  • My LO did the same thing too. Now I put her on her stomach to sleep...I know it's not recommended but she has good neck strength and sleeps much better/longer on her tummy.

  • My LO does this, too.  He usually eventually gets the gas out--but I can almost count on grunting from 2-4 a.m.  Maybe it's trapped gas?

  • lol. My DD does this too when she's desperately trying to break free of her swaddle. As soon as I let her arms out, she's fine.

  • My LO does this on nights I don't get a good burp out of him after a feeding. It sometimes takes him a few hours to actually get the gas out but once he does, he's fine again.

  • Our little girl does this too and she's not swaddled. It is also accompanied by turning her head from side to side like she's shaking her head "no".

She sleeps right through it, so I just let her do it since its not harming her.
