How often do you shower? Clicky Poll

Yesterday there was a clicky poll about how often you bathe LO. Since you've had your baby, how often do you bathe yourself?

Re: How often do you shower? Clicky Poll

  • I was just thinking this morning when I was in the shower, "you know your a new mom when you get a shower and feel like you acomplished something grand!"

I'm lucky to get one every other day.  LO is very colicky so to get enough time to shower during the day can be tough!

  • Before baby I would rinse off every day and wash my hair every other day...now, it's whenever I can. I've gone 3 days in between showers :-/

  • Every other day when I think about it but sometimes I realize "hey it's been like... 4 days.. since I showered. Eeewww". Hard to remember to take care of yourself sometimes when you have a new baby (and a toddler)!

  • I feel like I (need to) shower a lot nowadays. Between my leakage, pp grossness, etc. I can't shower enough. Even if I am actually still "still" clean, I feel a lot better in and right after a shower! On average, 2 quick ones a day.

  • I aim for every other day, but have gone longer... ewww! I hate showering when DH isn't home, I've only done it twice. First time Harry slept through it just fine and the second time he was screaming when I got out, I felt so bad!

  • I push for every other day but sometimes that doesn't happen.

  • I take a shower to refresh myself and take a break not always to get clean.
  • I get one each night when MH gets home from work. I was trying to do it when LO was sleeping in the morning. I would bring the monitor into the bathroom but it wasn't relaxing on the days he would wake up and I was in the middle of shampooing. If I don't get one each day though, I find I get more frustrated late night.
Edited because I am an English teacher and that's what we do.

  • Every night after dinner DH feeds LO a bottle, changes her and burps her while I take a shower. It is a part of our daily routine and I couldn't make it through the day without the little bit of "me time" at the end of the day. I am not sure how our routine will change when I go back to work. I have to have a shower in the mornings to be "presentable" for work. My hair is super oily and needs to be washed every morning. I guess DH is going to have to get up a little earlier to make it happen.

  • I shower while dh plays and undresses lo, then I fill the tub and take a bath with lo every night as part of her routine. I find it fun and easier than those stupid plastic tubs

  • Every other day typically, in the morning. DH is home, so he can jump in if Mr. E starts fussing. But we'll bring the RnP into the bathroom and set it in front of the shower (we have a glass door) so I can keep an eye on him.
  • Am I the only one still sweating at night?  I'm gross if I don't shower, that plus I have to after I work out so sometimes it's twice a day.  Sure some days I don't get in there until noonish but that's fine.

With DD1 I would just bring the bouncer into the bathroom with me and shower whenever now I wait until DD1 goes for a nap then bring DD2 into the bathroom with me.

Lately I've been thinking of just bringing DD1 into the shower with me but I'm not sure how she would react.

For me taking those few minutes just for me makes me a much better mother.  With 2 under 2 I find myself choosing one child's needs over the other, if that means one cries for a moment so be it - I think it's important to remember your needs as well.

  • I aim for every other day, but there are times when I've one 3 or 4 days.  I try to do it right after I feed DD in the morning because she's either asleep or content just sitting around awake.  I either put her in her bouncy and bring it in the bathroom or I put her in her crib and bring the monitor into the bathroom

  • I shower every day, but only wash my hair every other day or every third day.  I have long hair and that helps it stay less dry.  Not washing my hair every day also helps preserve the expensive color jobs.

I find showering and getting out of the jams every day helps me when I feel down.  Staying home with the baby has been rewarding, but hard.  So far I've always found the time while Margo is sleeping to take 30 minutes to shower and dress.  However, if that changes, I will let her fuss if need be.   I need that time.

  • I started with only every other day if I was lucky. Lately, I've been getting one in every day. Even DH said something recently of how I've been showering more regularly.

  • Showering is the only grown-up time I get with my husband these days, so we try to do it every day. Luckily DS loves shower sounds, so he sleeps in his chair in the bathroom while we shower. Sometimes I take a bath with the baby afterwards and he likes that too. :)

  • My daily shower keeps me sane. I have major boob leakage (we are talking multiple spraying streams that soak 4 lansinoh pads a day). I smell like sour milk by morning. It is nasty. I shower while LO is sleeping.

I was reading my care instructions from the hospital. I won the vagina lottery and had 3 third-degree tears. It says to take baths "several times a day." I literally laughed out loud when I read that.

  • I feel this way also. I became more obessive about cleaning and feeling gross so I try to get 2 quick showers daily

  • Once daily! I just put Liam in the bouncer on the bathroom floor and he watches/looks around while I shower. The noise of the exhaust fan normally buys me 20 minutes with no cries. He loves when I blow dry my hair too... well the noise at least.

  • I try to shower everyday, but I usually don't get to until after DH gets home from work.  Monday & Tuesday of this week I was able to get a quick one while LO was napping (our bathroom is connected to the master bedroom so I left the door open in case she woke up). Yesterday she didn't nap hardly at all so I wasn't able to get one in, but I made sure I got one when my hubby got home from work today! :)

  • Once a day in the evening when DH is home. There have been some days I haven't gotten one, but I hate that and notice I am way crankier. Now, how often do I dry my hair or make myself look at all presentable? Not very often!
