January 2012 Moms

If you had 2 days left before LO's arrival, how would you spend it?

I'm being induced Saturday and though he could arrive before then, I doubt it...he seems rather content in there. My DH thinks I should spend the time relaxing and watching Netflix to rest up for Saturday and get in some time for myself, part of me wants to do that and part of me feels guilty not being productive and cleaning etc.

 So, what would you do?

  • I would insist on going someplace nice for dinner the evening before, then I'd snuggle up on the couch with some hot cocoa and a favortie movie.  Enjoy the last quiet hours with DH, and don't be afraid to take a nap (as much as you can anyway).

  • Although, as of right now, I don't know have an induction date.  I feel torn between sleeping/resting and cleaning/organizing.  I think if I knew I had 2 days left, I would spend the first day cleaning/organizing and the second resting/sleeping/reading and enjoying the peace and quiet.  I want to be well rested for "the big day," but I don't want to come home to my house being a disaster either because I know it will stay that way for weeks.  I woke up this morning wondering this myself, to be productive or reserve energy?

  • If LO pushes us to her induction date, my leave starts 2 days before, plus I have the weekend before that.  There is some cleaning I think I must do, but otherwise, I plan to relax, rest as much as I can, cuddle with DH and the furbabies and mentally relax myself (inductions giving me anxiety)
  • Sleep!!

Stock the house with groceries that you'll want when the baby is home, then get a pedicure, relax, go out to dinner with DH...and sleep.

Yup. Sleep for certain. I would also take a nice long shower. Mine are about 2 minutes max these days.

  • The two days before my induction:

Day 1: cleaned & made a crafty project in nursery

Day 2: Nothing besides a tiny bit of cleaning at the end of the day so I didn't have to do it in the morning before leaving for the hospital. I just rested :)  And I think that was the best idea!  I even sent DD to DC, which I felt a little guilty about so I picked her up at 2 :)

  • I would get everything done that I'd want/need done for the next week. We did a deep deep deep cleaning of the house on Sunday and I went into labor Wednesday. It's been nice having a clean house, even if it is a bit cluttered with her stuff thrown everywhere.

I also like the idea of sleeping as much as possible, getting in a couple movies/TV shows, and having a nice dinner.

  • Although I didn't know when my labor was coming, I spent the last few days running errands and cleaning and having as much done as possible.  The night I went into labor, my husband, daughter and I went out for a nice dinner, then rented a movie.  My contractions started right when I went to bed.  The only thing I would have done differently was not wait until 2:30 to go to bed, since I never got to sleep.

Oh, and  I had a pedicure a couple days before and I was glad I did.  It made me feel nice after I gave birth and was a bleeding mess with messy hair.

If I were you I would clean one day and relax and go to dinner one day.
