We were on Enfacare until her 2 month appointment, at which point she was about term (40 weeks GA). She was gaining weight very well. We were able to switch to the Newborn formula, and added vitamin drops for the extra nutrients.
I had micro preemies with weight gaining issues and we are still on Neosure which is Similac's brand of high calorie formula. My girls are about 2 weeks away from 1 year adjusted and 15 monhts actual.
We had to switch to Similac Alimentum when she was 5 months, 2 adjusted from breast milk fortified with Neosure. She has a milk protein allergy & reflux. We still make it 24 calories by our GI's instructions. You can make any formula higher calorie.

Son was a micropreemie and was on enfacare until one year actual then went to regular formula until 1 year adjusted before switching to WCM. He didn't have any weight gain issues once he came home but his pedi wanted him to stay on it for the calories and other nutrients. I'd talk to your pedi and follow their advice.

DS is still on Enfacare at 8.5 months actual 6.5 months adjusted. He hasn't had any weight gain "issues" but he is on the smaller side.
