  • I like that idea!

My UO is this... Global warming is a joke. Also, the world is not going to end this year. People are crazy!

  • I'm very sad I missed out on the cockasorus post yesterday.

I try to "go green" and recycle, use canvas bags, blah blah blah.  But I will enjoy driving our gas guzzling F150 as long as there is snow and rain on the ground - not to mention other stupid drivers.  If we get in an accident I feel much safer in our big truck than a little "environmental friendly" car.

  • I hate politics.  DH calls me ignorant for not caring and I'm ok with that.  I hate elections years.  I get so mad when the debates and news coverage screw up my tv shows.  I could just care less and don't plan on voting.

Im the same way. I'm not even registered to vote. I don't believe that my vote counts anyways. It might if I lived in a different state, but I live in Texas so I know who will win our state.

Wait...so you don't believe global warming is a real thing and is actually happening?  I'm not in the mood to flame and I don't want to get into a debate but the evidence that global warming is very real is pretty overwhelming.

Yeah, this. The few "scientists" who maintain that global warming isn't real have been discredited by the rest of the scientific community.

And I say this as someone who's really skeptical about everything and really into conspiracies and stuff (I'm writing a book about them! :) )

  • Most of my pop culture opinions are pretty unpopular --

I think Coldplay makes some of the most boring and bland music ever.

I don't think James Patterson counts as being an author. Seriously, dude doesn't even write his own books anymore -- he outlines them and then hires other people to write them. I suppose that's smart from a business point of view, but it has to make you grumbly from an art point of view (not that his books count as art, but that's another story).

I think The Big Bang Theory is funny for about 5 minutes. Alas, whenever my MIL is here, she wants to watch it for HOURS.

I hate it when I think I've found someone else who "loves Broadway musicals," and it turns out that they're just a fan of Glee (bleh) and the songs from Wicked.

I guess I should have worded that differently. It's hard for me to believe because they blame everything on global warming. It's just a little ridiculous to me.

  • I hate that "presidential" debates turn into ethics debates. Who care's if someone had an affair or wanted an open marriage or wont release their taxes or strapped their dog to the roof of their car? WTF does that have to do with their ability to be president? I'm glad I'm a democrat and will be voting for Obama because I don't know sh!t about the republicans because that's all I hear about!

I think it's funny that people care so much about who's president but most people can't even name their congressman when congress really runs the country.

I think their should be an age limit for running for president because people like Ron Paul are way too old. He would die in office.

I think all our countries problems would be solved if we had a woman president.

  • Here are mine for today:

    - I think that Dave Matthews is overrated and his albums just sound like one long song.  No variation in his music.  I don't like him.

    - I was and still am a supporter of Obama.  I will vote for him again.  I may not like all that he has done in the last 4 years, but he will be a h*ll of a lot better in that seat again than some of his opponents.  I also think you should vote.  It's your right not only as an American, but as a woman.  That being said, you are able to have that freedom NOT to...I just think people should.

    - I think Modern Family is hilarious.  I have watched so much TV while being on maternity leave.  I'm going to miss it when I go back to work.

  • I love How I Met Your Mother and I am so happy I've been able to watch it while I've been home. How wasn't I on this bandwagon years ago??

Both of my favorite bands toured last year and came to the Philly area when I was about to give birth. I'm hoping they both tour again this year (Foo Fighters and The Airborne Toxic Event) and I can go and have an adult night out

And, Gloria Jean's Mudslide coffee is delicious, I got it in a sample K Cup pack from Amazon and am upset there was only one. Grr!

  • Modern Family - hilarious!  I watched a lot of The New Adventures of Old Christine when I was on leave.  That show is f-ing funny.

I don't understand how Two and a Half Men is funny.  It's just not.

Dave Matthews Band is good - when you are stoned.  Hence, a massive college following.

I don't necessarily believe in aliens (we watched Apollo 18 the other night - and f that $hit!), but I do believe in ghosts and some sort of after life.

  • I absolutely hate the movie Slumdog Millionaire. I was appalled that it was even nominated for an Oscar, let alone a winner.

I also hated Avatar. I found it pretty but boring as hell.

I used to be a huge movie buff, but I haven't seen anything new since the last Harry Potter movie. It doesn't help that most movies coming out just look like they would bore me to sleep.

I also think BluRay is a waste of time & money. Streaming video is the next thing, and it is now available in HD. I refuse to convert my DVDs to BluRays for this reason.

  • I think the Republican Party should be embarrassed by who is competing to represent their party. I am hoping that within our lifetime there emerges another political party that has enough clout/backing to take the offices of the president and congress (and I hope that the "backing" is in the form of support from citizens and not special interests).

Love: Modern Family, Slumdog Millionaire, Avatar, How I met your Mother, and Big Bang Theory! I also love Parenthood and Once Upon a Time

I agree that Global Warming exists but I think it is too scary to think about.

It's more about the special effects than anything. It is a really poorly written script that they didn't even finish.

I'm not "embarrassed" about who is competing to represent my party. Do I like either of the two current front runners? No. The only candidate worthy of running with a real chance of ousting Obama was Huntsman. I AM ashamed that the republican party didn't back HIM!!!

The 2 party system is a bulk of what is wrong with our political system today.

My UO is that the SOTU was crap. It was a campaign speech, not anything about the state of our Union. Obama has all of these promises, yet nothing is getting done. Blame the deadlocked Congress all he likes, I don't care... Show me some real CHANGE or I will not vote to re-elect you. This country needs reform!!! Even if the only other choice is a Newt.

p.s. People that don't vote or think their vote doesn't count bother me. If we all thought that way, where would we be? Plus, I hope you never complain about anything governmental...no vote, don't complain...

I agree with this. I told my DH to stop b!tching about anything political and that in my mind he doesn't get an opinion. If you're not willing to vote for a change, don't complain when things don't change.

I think it is my duty as a citizen to vote. The day I turned 18 I mailed in my voter registration. I also think all citizens of the United States should know all the states and their capitals. You should know the basic information about the country you live in.

This. I thought he would have been best.  But I am biased because I lived in Utah while he was governor. I'm not overly impressed with the other candidates, or Obama.  So I have some researchin to do!

I agree with this. I'm always shocked when people don't know all the states and especially when people don't even know how many states there are! I also think all citizens should be able to understand/speak English.

Amen. I can't even tell the difference between SD and HD so I can't imagine why I would need BluRay. I am so blind, I am lucky to be able to distinguish male/female, etc.

Also, I hate all talk shows. The view, the chew, the talk, Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, the doctors, WHATEVER.

I do not give two thirds of a crap about anything that these people have to say.

That blonde chick from The View is not qualified to give me advice about ANYTHING. She was on Survivor for goodness sakes. And she didn't even win. So, she can't even give me survival advice.

  • I think our politicians need to learn the art of compromise.  Regardless of who wins the election, if our elected officials can not compromise on issues, nothing will get done.  I think this was a huge problem for GW and is now for Obama.  Each party is so set on getting their way only that our government is basically accomplishing nothing.  I'm also not sure when being "Christian" or religious meant that you were a Republican.  That drives me nuts - my MIL bases her votes soley on the Republican party because they are good Christian people.  I would much prefer she research each candidate and individually find out who aligns with her values vs. assuming every candidate in the party believes what she believes.

I thought Obama's SOTU was a waste of time - but I also thought GW's were as well.  They are generally long speeches that tell me nothing.

  • I just don't get people that don't vote. Your vote counts. So many people in the world would give anything for an opportunity to vote for their leaders. If you don't vote, don't even think about complaining!

Totally agree with this especially living in Michigan in a snowbelt area.  I love my new Equinox and if I could afford one would love to have a nice big Tahoe.  I can see if you live in a state where you have nice weather the majority of the year that it would definitely be an option then, but with snow, ice, and everything else that we get, give me my big trucks!

Side note, I work for GM and they have a program where we can take various cars home (1 a quarter) so I've had all sorts home, Camaro's (which I loved), CTS Coup, LaCross, all sorts of fun cars.  Aside from the Camaro's (I'm a sports car girl at heart) my absolute favorite was a giant Sierra Denali Pick Up that I had for a week.  I had so much fun in that truck, it was the greatest!
