Breastfeeding

For those who feed both sides at one feeding...

I haven't done this in so long, but DD just did this tonight...and I was wondering...

When I feed from the first side I felt a let down, and I assume it's both sides because the side I'm not feeding from usually leaks a little.  But then when she finished that side and went to the next side, I didn't feel another let down.  Should I feel another let down once I switch sides at the same let down?  Or should the milk already have let down for that side at the previous let down?

TIA

  • For me it is the same way. I assume, your let down is for both. I've always fed both sides as I have a low supply issue, and not once had a double let down.

  • I feel the first let down on the first side and it just depends on how full I am on the other side if I feel a letdown or not. Sometimes you just won't feel the second letdown. When DD nurses for a long time I sometimes even get a third letdown that I hardly notice. Plenty of women don't feel letdown at all, so it's pretty normal.
