Breastfeeding

? Those who have had thrush

Went to my OB today and she thought I may have thrush. She prescribed nystatin. She said to use it after breastfeeding. I assumed after each feeding but the prescription says twice daily. How often did you use it?

Re: ? Those who have had thrush

  • Yes, you are supposed to apply after each feeding. My bottle said twice daily but that isn't correct for BF moms. My doctor also prescribed an oral liquid to give DS every day (I think it was a dropper-full a day) so we didn't pass the Thrush back and forth to one another. If the doctor didn't give you anything for your LO you may want to double-check on that. Good luck!

  • I applied a thin layer after every feeding.  I would call the pediatrician too because mom and baby should be treated together.
  • After each feeding. The bottle said 2x a day but pedi told me after each feed.
