Inappropriate Laughter

Hoping someone on here can help me.  My almost 6 month old has been laughing at the strangest times. In not my finest moment, I was yelling at my (much) older son for some trouble he got into at school.  My daughter began squealing in delight.  To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen her happier.  It's not the first time I've noticed it.  I dropped sugar all over the kitchen floor one day and let a few indiscretions slip out.  She had a very similar reaction.   I'm just wondering if this is normal?  Has anyone out there noticed similar behavior in their infants? There are some other "social" things that just seem off too, but I'm hoping to ease my paranoia a little.

Re: Inappropriate Laughter

  • I guess I'd be concerned with having absolutely NO reaction to those things...but I wouldn't be concerned with laughing at all. Babies don't always know when the loud voices are due to anger or delight- it probably startled her and to her, it was fun to be startled.

  • Thanks... that makes me feel much better.  My son came out of the womb a social butterfly (probably the reason he's getting in trouble in school now), so I'm comparing her to what I saw with him.  Now that you mention it.... she does like being startled....which I thought was a little strange, but glad to hear it's normal Big Smile
  • My baby almost always laughs or smiles when I yell at my older daughter. I don't think you need to worry that your lo is a sociopath. :)
