I haven't had my little girl yet but I was just wondering, I read a lot of posts about moms waking there babies to eat. I thought it was kind of an understood rule never wake a sleeping baby, should you wake them on a schedule to eat?
My pedi said to only do that until she was back to her birth weight. I think that is common advice. Also, if your baby sleeps all day and doesn't eat enough during the day, they're going to be up most the night trying to catch up. In that case, I'd say it's beneficial to the mother to wake the baby to eat so the baby is getting enough during the day and sleeping better at night.

we woke DS until he regained birth weight (2.5wks). now we only do during the day if he goes 4+hrs because we know it means a longer night than it already is.
