Cloth Diapering

A couple of questions about sprayers

If you use a sprayer...

How clean does it get the diaper? Like white? Or is there still poop but most of the solid stuff is gone? Does it take a while?

We got the Sigma Sprayer and I feel like there isn't enough pressure. I messed with the little handle and I don't feel like it did anything.  Could it just be our water pressure is low?  It took forever to get the diaper clean-ish.

Re: A couple of questions about sprayers

  • We have a bumgenious sprayer, and the pressure is very high.It probably takes 15-30 seconds to spray a fairly mucky diaper.  When you spray the diaper the solids come off and you are left with a wet darker patch were the poop was.  The diaper doesn't end up snowy white though.

  • We also have the BG diaper sprayer and it's pretty high in pressure.  The poop comes off super easy but it does not leave the diaper white.  Also your water pressure could be the problem...I've heard that before.

  • This is a little graphic but the sprayer just takes off the bigger, more formed chunks. The liquidy stuff gets absorbed and won't really spray off. It's good to have higher pressure though to get the stuff that's harder to get off!

Have you had issues with leaks from this sprayer?  Trying to decide whether or not to get this one but some of the reviews are mixed.

Thank you for the graphic details because that was exactly what I needed to hear! That's pretty much what happened when I sprayed the diaper earlier. I feel like I could still use more pressure, but I'm guessing it will be alright. We just started solids a few days ago, so it's still mostly BM poo with some extra mixed in (sorry, graphic here too!). It hasn't changed texture, but it is different so I figured I'd go ahead and spray to be on the safe side.

  • I have the sprayer from greenmountaindiapers.com, I'm forgetting what brand it is. It sprays off all the bits of poop and leaves the stain behind. Doesn't leak at all.

  • I have the Sigma sprayer too, but haven't had any problems with the pressure.  When DD was just starting solids and her poop was like PB it took awhile to get it off the diaper with the sprayer.  And there would still be some stuff left on there, but the solid parts were gone.

When my husband first installed it it did leak. The directions say to hand tighten it, and don't mention using any tools. He ended up calling the 1-800 #, and the customer service was great. Basically the guy said, go get a wrench and tighten it right down... (which is what DH wanted to do but I didn't want him too because the package said don't overtighten). Any way the leaking stopped immediately and we've had no other issues. I bet the reviewers with leaks probably just needed to tighten the connection more.
