So as soon as we found out we were having a boy I started thinking about how to decorate the room. I quickly figured out that I'm not a theme person. I want things to go together, but I don't want everything to be too matchy and all the same. The walls are a pale minty green and we're getting espresso furniture. I picked out bedding in light shades of blues and greens in varying patterns (stars, stripes, polka dots). I also want to do a white tree decal on the wall and white sheer curtains (we already have blinds to make it dark). So overall I want a light and airy nursery. Now DH. He is thrilled to be having a boy and immediately suggested a giant baseball rug. Luckily we couldn't find one he liked, so we'll just get a light blue rug. So my question, how can I incorporate baseball in the room so it blends in. I'm not into dark colors or red, white, and blue which it seems a lot of baseball decor is. I wouldn't mind some pictures, but again can't seem to find light colored baseball paintings. Suggestions? Anyone have a baseball nursery they can post pics of? TIA

Re: Ideas for a subtle baseball themed nursery?
I have a friend that took old baseball photos of her DH, dad and FIL and blew them up in black and white. Turned out really cute.
I've been saving this one on my computer for almost two years- you can probably get an idea or two from it. I would also search for baseball in ETSY. Lastly, Pottery Barn Kids has a few baseball things out (baseball bat lamp, nightlight, wall picture etc.)

You can find baseball themed artwork that isn't the typical baseball colors/style. Like this one:

What about some sort of art series using baseball cards or vintage baseball posters? The vintage stuff seems to be mellower in colors.
You could also do accents, like a baseball themed lamp that goes with your room. Just an example of one: https://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=baseball+lamp&hl=en&prmd=imvns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&biw=1680&bih=834&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=15955492956690612281&sa=X&ei=OnEfT-n_KuHj0QG1qcUI&ved=0CKgBEPMCMAM
I would also think baseball-inspired instead of something really literal. You could do a "take me out to the ball game" stencil, something with a home plate or baseball diamond shape to it, maybe something with a scoreboard inspiration that uses the baby's name and birthdate...

Or you could have this quote (or another) made into a vinyl sticker you that can apply to the wall (like your white tree). All the framed pictures in my nursery are actually pieces of fabric that I ironed and placed into inexpensive frames ... maybe you can find baseball themed fabric in the colours/tones you like.

I love this, old black and white photos of "real" baseball might be good, too! Also you can get great old or new prints of ballparks if your DH is into that kind of thing, and they might be better colors or at least less THEME-y.
Very cute idea!
If were doing a baseball theme, I'd go with a vintage "golden era" of baseball theme. Some ideas:
- an old weathered glove and wooden bat in the room, maybe even DH's old jersey or glove
- use the colors of an old baseball for the room and accent colors (khaki, worn navy)
- a framed birth announcement made to look like a baseball ticket (like the one here... https://thefinishingtouchevents.com/the-finishing-touch-takes-home-ises-award-for-best-social-event )
- some framed vintage baseball photos of a favorite stadium or pages from a book or calendar
- a baseball birth announcement like the one here.. https://www.etsy.com/listing/86436643/personalized-engraved-baby-announcement
- a canvas with the baby's name in varsity style letters, like the one here.. https://www.riathurston.com/2012/01/judes-vintage-sports-nursery.html
- some black and white up close photos of sports items like a ball, bat, glove. kind of like the ones in this room (you could just use the baby blue, espresso, and navy, and leave out the red if you don't want a red/white/blue combo) https://www.potterybarnkids.com/room/rom/romboy/romboyash/
Good luck! Sorry my links aren't clicky, I'm on Firefox.
