*lurking*
Hi! My DD is 3 months old now and just recently she's decided to refuse the breast sometimes. Maybe 1-2x per day she will cry and pull back and refuse to eat but then if offered bm in a bottle she will take it no problem! Anyone else experience this?
Re: Refusing the breast sometimes?
Yes. My DD did same around 3 months (and sometimes still since she recently started daycare so gets bottles 3 days a week). My lactation consultant said it is developmentally normal as they get older, more aware and sucking is more of a choice and less of a reflex.
I have had success nursing in a darm room, nursing after naps when she is sleepy and if she refuses I don't give her a bottle -- usually she'll eat after another nap or hour or so. If it were to get outright ugly and go more than 1 feeding I might use the bottle or a sippy cup since I find DD gets used to the fast/ease of bottles so has to sort of remember nursing and I don't want to give her bottles if I don't have to.
