I am having a bit of a challenge breastfeeding my newborn. He is 3 days old and latches on pretty well but that is where the success stops. My milk is just starting to come in so I thought things would improve. The biggest obstacle is my nipples are too flat. The nurse suggested a nipple shield which I have been trying. The problem is the nipple is so long and and my little guys suction isn't that strong. He was born at 35 weeks and 3 days so he's not full term. I have tried different sizes but all are too long. He takes my pumped milk from a bottle w/ a little difficulty and I have to supplement w/ formula also. Any suggestions? Unfortunately the hospital where I had a cs doesn't have lactation consultants anymore and the nurses weren't alot of help. I have been so frustrated and feel like a bad mom b/c I can't feed my baby properly.
