Question about returning a crib

So we had some very dear friends of our give us a crib for Christmas, it was very kind and an unexpected gift. We had been looking at cribs and matching dressers for awhile and decided we want a dark cherry wood and a 4 in 1 crib.

This brings me to the dilemma...our friends bought it from Babies R Us and I was thinking about returning it and exchanging it for something we want. How do I go about mentioning it to our friends, and has anyone had experience retuning large gifts like this to BRU? We have no receipt, and I know it's been within the 90 day return policy.

Any advice is appreciated

Blah that's rough. I dislike when my friends/family buy us large gifts without asking us or letting us pick them out. Could you at least get in-store credit if you return it without a reciept? I'm sure you will have plenty of things you could buy at Babies R Us for awhile.

Thinking of us was kind, but since this is our first child we have an idea of what we want for the baby room and I just want it to be what we choose.

I'm just hoping BRU will take it back without a receipt, and yes there is plenty of things we could buy there.
