Vicks Pacifier Thermometer

Anyone know the reliability of Vicks Pacifier Thermometers? Will a doctor accept that as an alternative to a rectal thermometer? Any thoughts are appreciated!

Re: Vicks Pacifier Thermometer

  • I looked a pacifier thermometer, but saw they had terrible reviews. Also, Hazel wouldn't have another pacifer in her mouth unless it was a soothie so that wouldn't work for her. I'd go with something else

i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.

  • I have good luck just sticking a thermometer under her arm pit.  You only need to do a rectal temp if that temperature is on the verge of "the danger zone."  We have actually never had to use the rectal thermometer since the underarm one let us know her temp wasn't a huge concern.

  • I had a paci thermometer with baby #1, but it was a waste.  A sick, cranky baby does not want to suck on an unfamiliar paci.

  • Be careful with the under the arm ones. We use them at work (day care) and since it's an outside the body temp, they're off usually by a whole degree (we add a degree to the readout to make it more accurate).
  • We use the same digital ear thermometer as our doctor, and it is super quick and easy. Cannot remember the brand, but it is white with a blue tip and we bought it at Walmart.

  • I'm a FTM, but my SIL told me not to waste my money on one of those. She said that the sucking part was really hard and her baby hated it. She used a rectal one and the paci one to compare the accuracy. Apparently the paci one was a couple of degrees off each time she used it.
