Had my baby!

Hi Ladies

Just wanted to let you all know I had my DS #2 on 1/11.  I was induced at just over 40 weeks.  It went so much faster than the first time.   Pitocin was started at 7am and he was born by 3:10. I pushed 3 times and he came flying out!  My OB almost didn't make it into the room in time ;)  TW is 8lbs 9oz, 21 inches.

He has been a super easy baby so far, nursing and sleeping like a champ.  My only issue is DS1 - he is a bit cool and not very interested in his brother.  He is making tiny bits of progress everyday, but it is still a big issue.  Add on terrible twos and we have had some touchy moments.

I am looking forward to getting back into shape and enjoying my two boys!

  • Congratulations!!  It took DD a while to adjust as well.  She wouldn't even accept gifts that folks gave her when they first came to see the baby.  It's like she knew they were blood money.  But she warmed up and now they play so well together most of the time.  Best of luck!!

  • Congratulations on such an easy delivery and an easy baby! I'm sure DS1 will come around soon; this is a big adjustment for him! Soon enough, he won't even remember life as an only child and won't be able to imagine life without his brother!

  • Congratulations on what sounds like an easy labor/delivery and a healthy son.  Your DS1 will come around in time.  Once his brother can respond more to his voice and interactions, they'll be on the way to being buddies.  Though I hear you about the Terrible Twos; it's been an interesting few weeks managing DS1's insane mood swings and battles while caring for a newborn!

P.S. I bet that having two active little boys will help you get back into shape pretty easily!

  • Congrats!  Maggie was just under 2 when Molly was born and she took no interest at all in the baby whatsoever.  The terrible twos were not fun to go through with a newborn and we started calm down timeouts when Molly was about 4weeks old.  Maggie would get so upset if she didn't have ALL my attention when she was home and she would throw herself at me and get really worked up.  I just tried to give her more attention but nothing worked.  The calm down timeouts (sit in timeout until you stop screaming and flipping out - basically not giving the tantrum any attention while they are in a safe spot) actually worked within about a week and we were all happier for it.  Good luck!
