Home Births in Cincinnati...

So, I imagine you'll have to PM me, but does anyone suggest a certified nurse midwife that will do home births?  I will have to pay out of pocket, I'm sure.  Any idea of costs in our area for a CNW?

I have been researching online, and haven't found much information.  I do see that Dr. Bowen is a good back-up OBGYN, and I will definitely look more into his practice (and they are covered by my insurance!)

From what I understand, by law, CNMs are not allowed to attend homebirths in Ohio. I think that if you want a midwife to attend your homebirth it has to be a non-certified (?) midwife. However, that answer is based on some basic personal research and I could be wrong.

I know there is a Yahoo! group called Cincinnati Homebirth Circle. I suggest joining that group, they seem to have all the best local homebirth information and resources.

 I have also heard amazing things about Dr. Bowen. Best of luck!

I am a patient of Dr. Bowen although I see the NP there. When I went in for my first appointment they asked me where I was planning on giving birth which I found to be the most insane question on the planet at the time. Anyway, apparently they can't outwardly support home births but I have a feeling they could give you some help. Of course when I told them I wanted to give birth at a hospital with a lot of drugs the conversation ended. Hahaha. Good luck.
