I'm sure other people must do this, too. I always Google our prospective baby names (first and last) to see what comes up and make sure we aren't naming out child after an infamous criminal or something like that.
Sometimes the results are kind of amusing, actually.
Anyone else?
Re: Do you do the google test with your names?
No, guess I needed to since DS has the same FN and MN as Ted Bundy. But, it's not like anyone knows him as Theodore Robert Bundy.
I find a lot of the girl names show up with strippers. I like faily traditional names, but they're also fairly common so I guess it's more fun to post pictures of a nude Margaret than Margaret Thatcher.
I've had this problem with my girl names, too. I liked Oksana, until I googled it.
Now, not so much.
Always! Just first and middle names usually, but if I'm getting serious about a names then I'll add our last names too (we hyphen).
Once I got a murderer or serial killer (I can't remember the name though!) so that came off the list. I got an actress (Michelle Rose) and producer (Michelle Grace), neither of which deter me but now knowing the popularity of those middle names I am searching for better options.
I think it's a good "stress test" for my name ideas.
9 Years Later
Ella Elizabeth only returned very old ladies or little babies. That will do just fine for me.
And with our last name, we got no results found! Score! Now it feels a bit more unique to me, even though Ella is so popular.
Yup.
That is how we found out that one of the names on our list, when combined with our last name, is the name of a porn star. SO glad we googled.
