Anyone have a good slow cooker Beef stew recipe?

I have about 2 lbs of cubed chuck beef in my fridge and wanted to make some kind of stew. DH loves stews but I have yet to make one I really like. Anyone have a go-to recipe for some yummy stew? (doesn't have to be slow cooker)

TIA :)

Re: Anyone have a good slow cooker Beef stew recipe?

  • I don't have a recipe but I would start by adding, onions, carrots, celery, potatoes, packet of onion soup mix, beef broth, maybe a bay leaf and garlic.  I would also brown the meat up with some random seasonings prior to puting it in the crockpot.  Like onion and garlic powder, salt and pepper.  Maybe add corn?

Good luck, I love cooking in my crockpot.

  • I LOVE the basic Crock Pot recipe for Beef Stroganoff that my nana used to make.  It was one of the recipes that came with the Crock Pot.  I just did a Google search, though, and most of the recipes call for cream cheese or cream of mushroom soup instead of sour cream.  Nana's always had sour cream...

Here was the closest one I could find:

This sounds something like the last recipe I tried and the flavors were good but I think I might have over cooked it because the beef just fell apart. Do you how long you would leave in for on low?

Ha ha, no idea... maybe 4 - 6 hours... I thought the meat was supposed to fall apart in the crockpot, lol.

lol.. yea well mine like disintegrated. Think of the consistency of a chicken chili. I swear I am the only person who can screw up a crockpot recipe. I don't think I browned the beef first.. that might help lol.. :)
