longer second time around...

This will be baby number two, and it just seems like it is taking longer this time around. Is anyone else working on baby #2 and it just is not happening as fast as with your first?  I just got a handle on my cycles, and this will be cycle 3 actively trying.

The average for a healthy couple TTC is 12 months. 3 months actively trying isn't so bad.

YEP!  And i was on BC at the time i got pregnant.  But i was also 19 years old then.  After having DD went back on BC and have taken it for 11 years.  We are on cycle 10 of TTC.

 3 cycles is not a long time. Good luck, hope your wait isn't too much longer.

That's incorrect. It can take a healthy couple up to 12 months to conceive. That does not mean that the average time it takes a healthy couple to conceive is 12 months.

We are TTC #2 but I don't really feel like it's taking long as this is only cycle 2. I don't think this is our cycle either so while it isn't long I do understand the frustration when it doesn't happen the first time. With #1 we weren't "trying" so to actually time everything right and have it not happen is disappointing. But hang in there, unfortunately this can be a long journey sometimes.

It is just different this time, we have been trying actively for three months (i.e charting and what not), but I have not been preventing pregnancy in anyway, for about year, maybe a little more, DS is two... This is probably why it feels longer for me...

This exactly. It is very amazing how the body works though, because I am tracking my cycles now, I am learning so much about ovulation, and conception that I was not really aware of with my first pregnancy.

That's incorrect. It can take a healthy couple up to 12 months to conceive. That does not mean that the average time it takes a healthy couple to conceive is 12 months.

Isn't it neat? Though disappointing when you time everything right only to get a bfn.

It took us 4 cycles for DS. We are on cycle 6 right now and yes it is taking longer but like everyone else mentioned it takes a year of trying before there is any concern. However I know what you mean because I am still dissapointed that we have not gotten pregnant yet. I think whether you are trying for #1 or #5 the wait is painful. Good Luck, I hope you get your BFP soon!

Yeah, its amazing.. and BFN's suck, I had to literally back away from POAS, it was becoming an obession lol

yup, I got pg very fast (on the first try) 3 times.  m/c at 10 wks, DS, mc at 8 weeks and I know this is not the norm.

Now we are on cycle 4 after my latest m/c and i feel like its forever...I know it isn't and I just need to be patient, but I know it can take up to a year for healthy couples...

Yep!  I got pregnant my first cycle off of bc with my first.  Literally one week we said "hey lets have a baby" and we were pregnant 2 weeks later.  This time we've been actively ttc since Feb 2011.  So, 11 months.  Sucks big time.

We got pregnant immediately with my son.

It took 13 cycles to get pregnant with #2. I never once considered myself abnormal. Yes it took longer but was still pretty much in a very normal range.

With DD we had just kind of thrown caution to the wind one single cycle and I got pregnant.  We are now at almost 21 months TTC our second.
