What are your personal thoughts on this?? I know you spend time with babies in the hospital and such...and being that you have 2 kids....do you know of any/many success stories??
I had planned c/s with JT cause he was transverse. I never thought I'd want a VBAC cause I'm afraid I'd labor and then need a c/s anyway (which is terrifying to me). However, now that I'm in this situation I'm thinking I don't want to be restricted after I give birth and not be able to hold him, and be in so much pain I can't play with him, and I don't want to spend 5 days in the hospital away from him.
Re: ffejsgirl - VBAC ??
I'm not on L&D or mother/baby. So I don't have a lot of success or failure stories with this. I do know every doctor is different in what they feel comfortable with delivering VBAC.
I would check out the VBAC board for some success stories. I think if your doctor will let you I would definitely try it. Especially where your first C/S wasn't emergent or done because you were having difficulties with a vaginal birth.
I know my friend's OB refused to deliver her VBAC because there wasn't 18 months between the end of her 1st pregnancy and beginning of her 2nd. Like I said though they are all different in what they feel comfortable with handling. I agree with all your reasons for wanting to do it though!
Also I will add that my parents took Aiden home with them for a week after Emily was born and it was wonderful. He was there for her birth and when we brought her home for a day and then they left.
It was so nice to get into the newborn routine again with just the two of us and DH took a week off work when Aiden came back. So I wasn't alone with both of them until Em was about 3 weeks old.
When my mom offered I was very reluctant, because I didn't want him to feel like we were shipping him off. However, he had a great time getting spoiled at grandma's and I was more prepared when he came back to divide my attention.
If you have that available I strongly suggest taking advantage of ANY help anyone offers. It's a blessing!
