My doctor's office reccommends waiting at least one year to get pregnant after a c-section. I know not every office is like this...but have heard a lot are.

I was told one year at my pp visit with DD. I went back in at 9 months and asked and he said it looked like I had healed nicely and I was cleared to TTC. I got pregnant when DD was 10.5 months old.
My OB said it was ideal to wait 12 months before getting pg again but many women do not. The only thing is if you want a VBAC they want you to definitely wait at least 12 months and they like 18 months between pg. That didn't matter to me b/c I knew I'd have a rcs.
My dr told me it was ok at my 6 week checkup to start trying right away. If he had told me to wait, I would have questioned why. I'm sure this recommendation varies from woman to woman.
They didn't say anything to me the first time. I got pregnant 6 months after my c-section. I had a VBAC this time and he told me it wouldn't be a bad thing to wait a little bit. I told him we were going to use condoms again and he just said "I'll see you again soon."
I did not consciously ignore. I can't remember if we were cautioned against it. I was pregnant with twins 9 months after my first c/s, and then pg with DS2 before DS was even 1 (m/c the twins, and conceived next cycle). After DS2 was born (VBAC) we were pg with DD 3 months later. Concieved when she was 8 months old (m/c) and again when she was 15 mos.
Only 2 of our 7 pregnancies have been planned. All others have been conceived wither while I was nursing or using condoms.
I think it is wisest to let your body have recovery time; however, I also believe that your body is gonna do what it's gonna do....ya know? We'd never expected to find we are as fertile as we are, but, we make it work. (Ha -- at least until May, and then these tubes are TIED!)

Our OB told us to wait 18 months after a c-section to fully allow everything to heal and to lower the risk of complications.
We weren't "trying" but we weren't preventing it either and 'made the magic' without protection as soon as we were cleared for sex.
When our DD was 11 months old we found out we were expecting #2, however sadly we lost the baby to miscarriage at 7.5 weeks.
I had a D&C on 12/9 and Surprise Surprise, got a positive test last night. DD is 13 months old. We have a confirmation appt tomorrow night.
Fingers crossed I'm joining you guys here on the 2 under 2 boards.
I got pregnant with DS when DD was 6 months old (they are 14 months apart).
I got pregnant with pregnancy #5 when DS was 7 months old but miscarried.
I got pregnant with my current baby when DS was 11 months.
So.......... yes, we tried to conceive when we wanted to, not when the doc said to.
