Hello :)

Hi,

I'm new here. My partner and I are planning on starting to try for a baby at the end of March. We plan on doing IUI using donor sperm.

I'm looking forward to reading other people's journeys and sharing mine.

I'm really interested in hearing from anyone who has been through the IUI process (or is going through it).

Re: Hello :)

  • Congrats and welcome to the board--it's a great group!  I didn't do the same process, but lots of folks will be able to be more specific with questions.  Best wishes with the next steps:)

  • I am currently doing IUIs with donor sperm.  So far no luck, but I'm only on my 4th IUI and well, it often doesn't happen right away.  Welcome!

  • Hi and welcome! IUI's are a breeze (or at least they were for me)! Unfortunately I didn't have success with IUI's, and we moved on quicker than I think most people do because of my PCOS. Our doctor thought that my eggs were probably very difficult for the sperm to penetrate so we moved on to IVF with ICSI. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask :-)
IUI #1 (50 mg clomid and ovidrel) - BFN
IUI #2 (100 mg clomid and HCG trigger) - BFN

    FET #1 - BFFN
FET #2 - BFN? c/p? Either way no baby
    FET #3 - No shock...BFN
    FET #4 - BFN :-(

  • Welcome to the board! We did iuis and were lucky enough to get pregnant on our 3rd try! The process is pretty easy and our midwife let my wife push the plunger on the syringe so she could be more involved in the whole thing. Good luck!

  • We got pregnant with first DD who is nearly 3 years old after 6 IUI's and 2nd pregnancy we got lucky on 1st IUI! It is a failry smooth process. Hardest part is definitely not getting the result you want...time after time but I definitely know there are people out there who have a lot harder time than we did. It's an amazing journey!
  • Welcome! I am new too, and will hopefully be doing my second IUI in March/April. The last IUI I did was back in 2009, but I am sure it hasn't changed much, and the process was fairly easy.

  • Welcome!  How exciting.  IUIs are pretty easy, as everyone has mentioned.  I got pregnant on our third IUI, but had a chemical pregnancy.  Then, got pregnant again on our 6th and ended up with our son!  The ups and downs are hard, but there is a likelihood of success over time.
  • Welcome to the board! 3rd medicated IUI (150 mg clomid + 1200 metformin [PCOS]) did it for us!
married 03/08/08 -- ttc with PCOS (dx 2005) & DS
IUI #3 gave us the best 2nd anniv. gift ever: 2 babies! (born 03/09/10)
Peanut and Little Man are getting so big! 2 years old already!

  • Wow! Thank you all for the very warm welcome!

Congratulations to those of you who were successful! And for those who are trying, I wish you all the very best of luck - can't hear to wait to hear your success stories!

Thank you all for sharing your stories! I have my first appt with the reproductive endocrinologist next week - then we'll select a donor, order the sperm and hopefully get going in March! From observing, this seems like a great board with a nice bunch of people. I'm looking forward to hanging out :)
