Help...dog ate a crayon

My dog just ate a whole crayon. Does anyone know if this is something that requires emergency treatment? Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Call the vet?

  • I would assume this is a non issue.  Crayons aren't toxic... just basically wax with color.  They let toddlers use crayons, and I"m sure plenty of kids have eaten one.  Your dog will be fine.

  • I'd only worry if the dog swallowed it whole (so it would be hard to pass)...Dawg has eaten a few already.
  • Ok thanks. She didn't eat it whole so I hope it's ok. I'll keep an eye on her.

  • I think he's just going to poop in technicolor.

My dog ate my nephew's yellow crayon...he pooped yellow ;)

THis has actually been used in my house as a 'diagnosis tool'

When you find puke/poop/whatever aand you don't know what pet it was, you can grate a small amount of crayon into each food dish.  Nicely non-toxic, I know 24 hours after they eat the 'doctored' food that if the puke pile has green flecks, it belongs to Dawg, Blue flecks, El Gato, Orange, La Doof Kitton.

A vet assistant taught me that one...

  • My nephew eats crayons, they jsut make his poop more fun.  Did you check hte box to see if it says nontoxic?
