Showing?

So I know logically that I could not possibly be showing yet, but I swear in the last few days my body has really started to change. Did anyone else notice/is noticing some serious would-be bumps around 10 weeks? My little belly is currently such that I cannot suck it in, and if my maternity leggings don't get here soon, I have no idea what I am going to wear!

Re: Showing?

  • I was showing by 12 weeks with #1, and I'm definitely showing already with this one. Even though baby is still teeny, there's till a lot going on inside and everyone is different. I may not have believed you could show by 10 weeks if I wasn't living it. :-)

I didn't start showing until much later during my first pregnancy (around 16w), but that doesn't meant that other women can't show at 10 weeks.

Check out this diagram of where your uterus is:

It's still pretty low.  But as you can see in THIS link, your organs have already shifted a tiny bit, so that could be adding to your bump, too.

I know that there are some moms (most 2+) on the board that have posted bump pics that look more bump than bloat.

Oh, thank you for sharing this! I am totally willing to believe this is bloat, it's just still new enough to me that my eyes are sort of popping out of my head when I look in the mirror.

  • just bloat for me, but I am not a tiny woman so I think it will be awhile until I look pregnant.

  • thanks, Ambsies...that helps me a lot. I appreciate the diagram. I am almost 11 weeks and don't think I am showing, but I do think stuff inside is starting to move around.

  • I think a lot of people think "showing" = a baby bump (your uterus). But like the previous posters have said, things are moving around long before you uterus is up out of your pelvis. I think it's pretty easy to show before it's officially a baby bump, especially given certain body types (like the PP's short torso, or someone who is very thin in the waist, etc.).

  • I'm 5'4'' 115 lbs, and have gained no weight this is my first, and I'm not showing, but I can tell there's a little more shape to my belly but I still fit into my pants. I'm not in hurry to go to a bigger size pants so I'm just fine with not showing yet.

  • I think I am showing-I'm sure it's a combo of bloat and things starting to pop out but my stomach is not as flat as it used be and even if I flex my muscles, it still pops out a little. I'm taking progesterone (which doc says can cause weight gain) and have gained 2.5 pounds (not sure if weight gain is from prog or from decrease in weekly workouts). I was small before I got pregnant (5'5, 110) so I think it's just going to be more obvious. While I can still fit in all my regular jeans and pants, they are starting to get tight.

  • I am 5' 7" and 115 pounds and I noticed my bump around 9 weeks so---no, you are not weird! :) I am so excited about having a bump already! Can't wait to watch it grow!

  • I have been showing for a couple weeks.  It's not bloat as it's always there and I can't suck it in.  It gets a lot bigger as the day goes on.  It's my 2nd child and I am only 5'1" so there isn't much room in there as it is!

  • I'm showing and I'm 10w3 days.  I read in What to Expect when you are Expecting that it's normal to show during the first trimester if:

    - small build

    - less muscle tone

    - overeating

    - wrong dates

    - bloating

    - more than one baby

I'm short 5'3" and have gained 3 lbs.  I did not have strong ab muscles before getting pregnant.  My mom also told me she was showing during the first trimester and she is built similar to me.  I was excited to be showing but also nervous.  I ended up telling my boss sooner than I wanted because soon my baggy shirts won't be able to hide my bump.  My boss was excited for me. :)
