Bed WWYD?

We're getting DD bunk beds. We can either get her a jr bunk or twin over full. The jr would be good because it's not too tall and don't have to worry about the whole ceiling fan issue. She likes it because we could make the area underneath her "privacy" room. We would set it up as a reading nook or area to play barbies.

If we get the twin over full then brother could sleep on the bottom bunk and there would be room for friends to sleep over. I would probably take DS's bed out of his room, leaving him plenty of space for his air hocky table. Yes, DS has an air hockey table shoved in his room because grandma and grandpa got him one for Christmas.

WWYD?

Re: Bed WWYD?

  • Personally, I would first ask the kids how they would feel about sharing a room, especially DD. If it was me, I'd rather have the play area under my bed and leave my brother out of it.

Yeah. I can see how over the next year or two she will start to want more privacy.

  • Yeah, she was leaning towards having her own privacy area. In the other option, she wouldn't completely be sharing a room with brother since all his stuff and clothes will still be in his clothes. I can see though that having in her room in any matter in the future will not be cool.
  • I'd have hated my mom for having my brother sleep in my room and him getting a giant play room. Plus, she's closing in on the time she'll want to be alone b/c everything is changing :

But I'd ask first like pp'ers and see what she thinks, not what DS thinks b/c he'd be silly to say no I don't want a play room to myself :)

  • Special snowflake? What about the bed with the larger bed under it, but without brother sleeping there? I agree with pp that she is goin to want her privacy soon, but I wondered if she might start having friends for sleepovers and would need the second bed then anyway. Do y'all have our of town guests? Again, that's where the bigger beds would be more convenient.
  • I would get the loft, not the bunk beds.  I think the extra space in her room would be nice.  I think DS should stay in his own room, can the hockey table be moved out to the garage?

I don't think friends will be sleeping over often enough to need the bunk beds.  Kids are fine sleeping on the floor, anyway :)
