Austin Babies

boxermomma has an extra boxer!

Sorry if you're already seen this on my personal facebook page and the nestie facebook page. I just really love this dog and want to find him a good home. I would keep him in a heartbeat if my husband agreed, but three boxers is just a bit much in our tiny house. He is so amazing with the girls and our other dogs. Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested. My email is emilia edmonson at gmail dot com.

Anyone looking to add a friendly dog to their life? We found this sweetheart of a boxer wandering our neighborhood yesterday: no collar (the one in the pic is ours), no microchip, and pretty darn skinny. Bodie, which we're calling him, looks about 7 years old, is fixed, and gets along great with our kids and two boxers. House-broken, knows sit/shake, all that.

The craigslist ad we put up yesterday has so far gone unanswered, so we're trying to find a loving home for him. We just don't have room. Please share this on your Facebook wall if you think any of your friends might be interested.

  • If you can't find a home for him, maybe check out Austin Boxer Rescue (https://www.austinboxerrescue.com/) and see if they can find a home for him. He really is beautiful!

thanks for the rec, libby. we were reading up on austin boxer rescue yesterday and they dont take dog "donations" directly. they ask that you take the dog to the shelter, and they rescue the dogs from there. i was hoping to just avoid the shelter and the shuffling of the poor dog to another location. he's adjusted well to our house, so i was hoping to just place him directly from here. but if we dont find a home for him, im sure he will eventually end up there. he's such a great dog, i really hope he'd be chosen quickly at the shelter or placed quickly through a rescue.

Oh, that really stinks :( I will spread the word about him - hope you can find him a home soon! I'd totally take him if we could...but 3 dogs is our limit for sanity reasons ;)

  • We can't take him, but I wanted to send you good luck vibes. Dh and I picked up a boxer almost a year ago and she was the sweetest thing.  She had an unregistered chip... But the shelter helped us figure out she has been adopted, and searched their records and gave me the owners phone number.  I hope Brodie can find his family very soon!  Have you tried posters/photos In that area?

  • You can also try Austin Pets Alive-- they may ask you to foster him till he can be adopted out but that would avoid the shelter.

Definitely try posters... we found a kitten once put signs up in the neighborhood and were called within an hour.  That was after a week trying craigslist and shelters.

agran, i actually put up signs within two hours of finding him. he's so skinny though, i really doubt he's just a neighborhood dog who got out.

i was trying to find him a home directly from us, as he's very comfortable here and i didnt want to keep changing his environment. we're waiting to contact a few more people for help, but if we dont hear anything by tonight, we're taking him to the shelter in the morning. hopefully he will be adopted out right away. if not, austin boxer rescue will likely take him. and i've been promised by our good friend who works at the shelter that i will get a call if he is at risk for being euthanized. if that's the case, i'm going to pick him up. this whole experience has just been so sad to me. i had dreams about it all last night, i have been crying all morning. i wish so badly that we could take him in.

  • Poor guy - hopefully he finds a home soon. I bet he'll be snatched up really quickly if he has to go to the shelter.

You've already done so much more for him than most people would. If either of my dogs ever get out (which I can't even think about without tearing up) I hope that they find their way to someone like you.

I know he appreciates all the love and cuddles you've provided since you rescued him!  I would call boxer rescue as soon as you drop him off just to remind them that he's there!  I think most recuses to their sweep of the shelters on a particular day?  You might call and find out with Boxer rescue does theirs and see if someone could hold him until that morning?  Then, he spends very limited amount of time in the shelter before he is rescued again.

I've got a FB friend that I"m going to message for more info.

  • I have a friend who is looking for another dog. I'll message them and see if they want to meet him.
