Munchkin wipe warmer?

Hi! I am a ftm due in early March. I am registered for 2 of the Munchkin wipe warmers and was wounding how you ladies like it? I want 2 so I have one for up-stairs and for down-stairs. Do you leave it plugged in 24-7 or how does that work? Does the wipes being warm seem to help with changes? I was also reading reviews on Targets website and some people were saying it dries out the wipes? It says it can hold up to 100 wipes if I just put less in would that help with the drying out problem? Thank you all for your help.

Re: Munchkin wipe warmer?

  • I had one with DD and I did not like it and yes it dried the wipes out.   I did not find warm wipes made a difference at changing time.

  • Yes it stays plugged in all the time. And we LOVE ours! It makes a huge difference in diaper changing! My daughter used to scream when we changed her, and after 1 week, we purchased one. It probably dries them out a little, but not so much to deter me from recommending it, and loving it!

  • I suggest taking them off your registry. All babies hate diaper changes at first but they'll get used to it. You have to think about how your baby will react when you're out somewhere without the warmed wipes. Will they absolutely freak out with the non-warmed ones? I just didn't want to set myself to spoiling her with warmed wipes. Now a bottle warmer, on the other hand, that has been our lifesaver.

  • Room temp wipes work just fine for us. We decided to start super-basic and build from there. So far the only extravagant thing we've gotten that we hadn't originally intended was a true diaper pail.

  • I like a wipes warmer cuz lo screams when wipes are cold, however I find were too lazy sometimes and we don't use it as much cuz we just change her wherever we are. One is enough

  • I used it last night for the first time with cloth wipes. I only had a few in there, but it worked fine. I decided to try it for night time so that DD doesn't wake up as much.  I have heard putting less in helps.

  • My SIL gave it to us bc she wasnt using it anymore. I do like it. I was always the type of person to wonder why you would need your wipes to be warm, but since she gave it to us we tried it. Both of my kids have loved it! Ive noticed it depends on the types of wipes you use as to whether or not it dries them out. If you fill it about 75% of the way it usually isnt a prob. Ive used it for both kids. Dont know if it really makes that much of a diff though unless you use the wipe right after you pull it out. they seem to cool off pretty quickly! Congrats and good luck!

Ditto this - after a week, our little dude didn't care what temperature the wipes were, even in the middle of the night. And there are always going to be times when the wipes won't be warmed; I'd rather he be able to handle the cool wipes all the time vs. freaking out in public.

  • I have one. I like it. But I could totally live without it. It's a complete luxury item. I wouldn't have bought it, but someone got it for me, so I decided to just keep it. DD hated diaper changes at first with it or without it. Diaper change is now her favorite time of day...with it or without it. She doesn't seem to mind one way or the other.

  • I love ours! It is so much better than cold wipes for a newborn. Totally recommend!

  • We had a wipes warmer but it dried out all the wipes, which pissed me off since we barely got to use any of the wipes before that happened. I immediately unplugged the wipes warmer and tossed the whole thing into the trash. Now we just use room temperature wipes on our baby.

  • Our home and location is cooler is the wipes would be cold, seriously. We love our warmer. It has really made changes better, especially at night. I unplug when we are out to save electricity but that is it. The only time I had a drier wipe was the top one after my DH left it open. We use Pampers Sensitive with it (maybe the type of wipe makes a difference). I would just sprinkle in some water if you are worried.

Agreed. There other other items you'd be able to put to better use, don't waste a spot on your registry!

  • We have the Lionheart warmer and it has a packet at the bottom you wet to keep the wipes moist. Plus it has an awesome light that serves as a night light. Glad we got it since we have a January newborn.

  • We have a Prince Lionheart warmer. I really didn't think it was needed but got it as a gift and like it allot.

It does not dry out the wipes at all. I don't think it makes a huge difference for my LO but it has to be better than a cold wipe!
