The yeast infection that just won't quit.

So, I called my OB on Tuesday because I was pretty sure I had a yeast infection - they advised me to do a 1, 3 or 7 day monistat kit to clear it up. So, I went with the 1 day and called it a day. Fast forward to today, the itching is back. Do I wait until Monday to call again or do I try to re-treat it?

I wouldn't normally worry, but I hate this stuff during pregnancy!!

  • I would try at least a 3 day. I know one girl on here said her doctor wouldn't let her take less than a 7 day. Those suck, so I'm sorry you're dealing with it!

  • Ditto PP. I had one and the 1 day didn't do a thing. I ended up getting the 3 day instead.

  • I am sorry you are dealing with that. I would try a 3 day one and see if that helps.

  • I had a yeast infection a couple weeks ago and was told to get the 7 day. I started feeling better right away, and haven't had an issue since.

  • I had one about four weeks ago and my doc had me take a 3 day and insert it only halfway. It seemed to help but then a few days later felt like it was coming back. I treated it again and it went away. However about a week later I felt a UTI coming on! That felt like it subsided, but then about a week after that it felt like it came back full blown. I finally ended up getting a culture taken and I am now on an antibiotic. It sucks! Hang in there!

  • I'm allergic to it so I always get Diflucan :)

  • Definitely go with the 7 day. I have had a recurrent yeast infection this entire pregnancy. I waited until second trimester to treat. I have done four or five 7 day treatments (rx and otc) and the yeast comes back after a week or so each time. I also cut out all sugar and carbs for a week, still came back, and am drinking kefir, taking acidophillus, and eating plain yogurt daily.

My midwives will not give diflucan during pregnancy unless I get to the end, 37 weeks, and still have it. Then they would consider prescribing the pill to avoid thrush.

  • You aren't supposed to use diflucan during pregnancy even though it works! It could be bacterial vaginosis and only antibiotics will clear it up.
