My co-worker found out last night her brother was hit by an IED over in the war...he lost both legs below the knee. His wife is flying over to meet/be with him in Germany and my co-worker is currently flying to her brother's house to pick up the children...little children, and flying them back here to stay with her, indefinately.
Seriously feeling bad for the kids...the wife...the man who is serving our country.
Re: bawling at my desk......
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
Prayers are said for that family. ?I can't imagine.?
?
That is so sad, but look at the positive. ?It could have been so much worse. ?Sometimes that puts things in perspective for me, you know??
Good thoughts and prayers for their family! ?
*hugs* I'm so sorry.
I work at a prosthetics clinic and for what it's worth, below the knee is at least easier than above. It's easier to relearn how to walk, even with both sides gone. It is amazing what I've seen people do, and what devices are out there. While utterly traumatic, terrible, life-changing... this CAN be overcome and it could have been sososo much worse.
Wow... that is incredibly sad.
*thoughts and prayers are with them*
That's awful. My brother is currently serving in Iraq, and stories like this really hit home for me now. It's my worst fear.
I hope he heals up as quick as possible, gets home to his family, and never has to go back there.
