Baby boy #3 arrived yesterday - introducing Jude Kenneth. Born 1.19.12 at 12:23pm, 7lbs 9oz and 19 inches.
All of my boys have been delivered via c/s and Jude arrived on his scheduled c/s date (I went into labor early with DS2 and thought I would this time also). I posted earlier in the week about having anxiety attacks thinking about the upcoming surgery and spinal. So thankful to be through that and without any major episodes.
We checked in to the hospital at 10am and stopped to say hi to a good friend of mine who had just delivered her own baby #3 the day before. That distraction definitely helped calm my nerves. Got prepped in the OR prep room, got an IV going, signed a bazillion pieces of paper. Met the anesthesiologist who was the same I had with DS2 and LOVED him. He has a very calming demeanor and used lots of humor to keep me relaxed. I asked him for a sedative which he brought to me around 11:30am. Did not have any panic attacks prior to that but the sedative helped me so much to relax.
Right at noon they walked me into the OR which was freezing cold. Between the cold and my nerves, I started shaking pretty bad. Sat down to do the spinal, seemed to take forever but got through that without incident.
20 minutes later, my little boy was born screaming at the top of his lungs. He quieted down when he was brought to meet me and then screamed the entire time he was in the nursery getting cleaned up!
I spent about an hour and a half in recovery, Jude was brought to me for BFing once they were able to get his body temp up (about an hour into recovery). I had very little bleeding in recovery (with DS2 I had so much bleeding they almost needed to do a transfusion).
Lots of nausea throughout the day yesterday but now that the meds have gone through my system I'm feeling good. It was a good 24 hours post op when I was finally able to eat solid food (had to pass gas before they would let me eat and it took a while for my system to get going again).
Baby was born at 12:23pm, at around 8pm they got me up and walking to the bathroom. 6am today they removed my cath and around 2pm today removed my IV and let me shower and eat. feeling good now! Just doing lots of walking up and down the halls and so glad to finally feel normal after a shower!!
Caleb & Asher adore their new baby and have already been to visit twice. Jude is one lucky boy to be so loved by his big brothers...
