Recovering from Mastitis

Ive been sick for a few weeks with mastitis.

Looking back I can see how sick i was getting, but jsut put it all down to recovering from birth. My whole body had been aching so bad for about a week and just getting progressively worse, and Id lost my appetite and stopped eating pretty much for over a week. Just managing  toast or a cuppa soup.

Then on the Friday I had a headache that i couldnt get rid of (unusual for me) and it was all i could do to get the kids in bed. Saturday morning I couldnt get out of bed. I had a wedding i was supposed to be going to that day too. Luckily a friend checked on me and got me to the doctors. My boob was red too. Doctor gave me till that evening to see if antibiotics worked or i would have been in hospital as I had a fever and rapid pulse as well. I felt like death. But antibiotics are amazing things and I was actually improved by that night. Thank goodness! If no one had checked on me i would have just laid in bed and gottenworse cause i couldnt do anything.

Its 2 weeks on now and Im feeling much much better.

Lesson learned = listen to my body.

  • Mastitis was worse than my c-section.  I'm glad you are on the road to recovery!  Mine was within hours I couldn't move without crying!!  I spent 24 hours in bed after getting antibiotics and was so happy to feel better!

  • Glad you're feeling better!  I don't know if I had mastitis as my issue cleared up on its own, but I had flu-like symptoms, fever, burning boob, the whole nine yards.  Not good.
