Disney on Ice: Is 2 Too Young?

Some friends of ours are taking their 3 1/2 year old to Toy Story 3 on Ice and we'd like to take Jackson.  He's absolutely obsessed with Toy Story right now so I think he will love it but it's a 2-hour show in a crowded arena and he'll be right at 24 months.

WDYT?

  • Depends on your child, but too young IMO. But, if you have a pretty calm toddler and don't mind taking frequent breaks to wander, go for it. It's more up to your patience level.

  • Yeah, that seems a little young to me but you're probably already used to leaving and taking breaks when it comes to a toddler sitting for a long period of time, so Im sure it will be fine. My DH is taking Lilly to see the Disney Princesses on Ice in a couple weeks.

  • I'd say that's too young. I took DD when she was about 3 and I still think that's too young unless you have really good seats. For us, it was too far away, she had to sit on my lap to see above the people in front of us, it was dark and that scared her, etc.

  • DH just took LO to see Toy Story 3 on ice 2 weeks ago.  He said LO did pretty well especially for a kid who never sits and had no nap.  He only had to take one break (up and down the stairs).  Is your LO familiar with the movie?  That might help.  LO loves the characters.

  • Yes, he really, really loves the movie and all the characters.  Carries his Buzz toy around all the time, points to them if he sees Toy story merchandise in the store.

I let him watch the whole movie while I was sick a couple of weeks ago and he sat/standed through the entire thing.

His love for the movie is the only thing making me think it might work.  I mean, if worse comes to worse, we'll just leave but we'll be dropping a fair amount of cash after tickets, babysitter, no doubt a snack, etc.

I think we're gonna try it, as I've already confirmed with the sitter.

  • depends on the child-

I waited until Gisele was 3.5 and honestly she sits great- however it was long- and she didn't like it as much as I thought she would-

  • not sure if your venue has 'club box' seats available. However if they are.

GET THEM! - private bathrooms- quicker access to foods- as its brought right to you.

The prices cost the same- and it has a 'box area' to take your kid in case you need a little break.

    Was a great sanity saver.

definitely good promo codes for the disney on ice shows. Most of them have coupon codes.

Awesome!  And I just found out that since he's under 2 (by just a few days!), he gets in free so it won't be as big of a waste if he's not into it.

  • My 2.5 year old niece just went. She LOVED it.. and i would say shes pretty active. She deff doesn't sit through a tv show unless she is really tired.

Her mom told me that she sat through the whole thing and loved it.. the only time she got up with to dance and they encouraged it. She also told me that at the end you were able to go up and shake there hands etc. She did have front row seats so I don't know if that's why they were able to go meet them..

Anyway, shes a very active kid and she did great through it. (shes a little older tho)

  • We took my son to DIsney on Ice when it was here a few months ago and he was only two. He LOVED it! Granted like a few other moms said if you have good seats its better, we were fairly close so I think it was better for him because he was closer to the characters and he could see them and stuff but he did not have a problem at all staying seated. They do have an intermissing for about 20 minutes at which point we did potty breaks and got snacks, but it was totally worth it. We will be doing it again next year.
