tell me about your pre-e/PIH experience

Hey ladies... I've had a very healthy di/di pregnancy, but over the past week or so, my BP has been up (138-142/90-96), I've had a lot of swelling in the past few days getting increasingly worse, and I've gained about 10 lbs over the past 2 weeks.

My OB is not concerned, but MFM is and had me do a 24 hr urine and some bloodwork. 

I'm a nurse, but don't know much about OB stuff, and don't know if I should shrug this off like my OB is doing, or be more concerned.

If you've had experience w/ this, I'm guess I'm wondering, how bad did it get and how did your OB/MFM respond?  My c/s is scheduled for 1/25, so we only have 4-5 more days. TIA!

my BP was higher and I had no protein, at first, in my urine but I was placed on bedrest at 31 weeks with BP meds.  At 34 weeks I did another 24 hour urine catch, I had protein- but not at high levels so I continued on meds and bedrest- until 3 days later when I had a headache, my BP spiked, and I was seeing some stars.  They delivered my boys that night.

Not to be all doom and gloom but I would watch for headaches, higher BPs, pain under you ribs to the right I believe.  My older sister had ecclampsia- she lost her daughter to a placental abruption- and almost lost her life too.  I was always concerned about this- both my sisters had high BP in each of their 6 pregnancies.

I presented the same way.  Increased BP.  Gained 6 lbs in 4 days.  Had a bad headache.

My MFM (only doctor) put me directly into the hospital for a 24 hour urine and monitoring.  I delivered 3 days later when I became severe.

If you're really 37 weeks....what are they waiting for?

i started to develop it at 32 weeks, and was admitted to the hospital for the duration. i ended up delivering at 33w2d. i'm surprised that at the gestation you're at, they're not just going ahead and delivering.

I started developing it first with high BP at 32 weeks, at 33 weeks put on bed rest and prescriped a 2 hour urine, which initially came back ok. 34 and 35 weeks BP contineud to rise, to about what you're at. At 36 weeks, protein showed in my weekly urine sample again, no other sysmptons, but prescribed another 24 hr urine test and deliverd 2 days later, never even got the results from the 2nd 24 hr test LOL. By DS and DD were both healthy at birth though. Like PP's, if you are 37 weeks I'm suprised they don't just deliver you

I know, I'm really annoyed w/ my OB that he's making me wait another 5 days w/ these symptoms... he said "the longer your babies can cook the better"

I'm so sick of hearing that lately! I am past 37 weeks, which is great for twins. I obviously want the best for my babies, I would walk thru fire for my DD AND for these kids. But yeah, it seems silly to make me wait a few more days for the sake of making it to the official 38 wk mark.

I have a MFM appt tomorrow, and they should have my lab results, so we'll see! Thanks for the responses ladies! You gave me more confidence to go in there tomorrow and stick up for myself!

Yes! haha... she'll be 2 on sunday. We thought for sure I would have delivered before now! We hope they don't ALL have to share a bday, but at the very least, their bdays will be within a couple days of each other. Christmas followed by 3 January birthdays is going to kill us!
