Help fast, please!

Ds stuck playdough up his nose and he's crying. I can't see it or suck it out with a bulb syringe.

Does he need medical attention? We don't have a home phone and my focking cell phone for some reason won't connect to make a call so I can't call the doctor to ask...

Re: Help fast, please!

  • I think since he's crying, it's a good sign. Keep trying the doctor and try to get him to blow his nose.

  • I would think if you can't see it or get it with tissue/syringe and it's bothering him that he should see someone!  Does your ped have walk in hours?  I'm not sure that it's an ER issue since it's daytime and you could get in to your reg doc.
  • Maybe try pepper under his nose to make him sneeze it out...
  • Try having him blow it out - If it doesn't come out I would go see the dr.
  • MAKE HIM BLOW!! BLow until it frees itself. as long as he's crying it's not blocking his airway!

  • And he's the one who doesn't know how to blow his nose, right?

If he can't blow and you can't get it out in a reasonable amount of time, yeah. You're gonna have to take him in. Play Doh will get soft, and stay up there and potentially cause an infection.

  • What about keeping an ice pack on his nose/face to help counteract the body temp so the dough stays harder and easier to blow out??
  • No, he can't blow. All of my attempts to get him to blow it out are just causing him to sniff it in even further.

For some reason my cell phone is getting no service right now and it won't let me make a call on roam. None of my immediate neighbors are home right now to use their phone and my pediatrician is an hour away from here.

  • Then drive to the nearest ER.

  • I didn't get it out, but all of a sudden he's stopped crying, says he fine and ready to go to school. Do I still need to be concerned? I probably shouldn't send him to school, should I?
  • Do you have eye brow pluckers that you can gently pluck it out with?
