I've been scouring the internet for info on Mei Tais, since I don't have a local store that sells them, I can't check them out in person.
I came across a youtube vid that was discussing babyhawk vs. freehand. The woman said that the Freehand ones were typically lighter weight and therefore cooler to wear in the summer. Does lighter weight also mean not as sturdy? Does anyone have, and love their Freehand? I've been getting nothing but positive feedback about the babyhawk... I live in Alabama and it tends to warm up fairly quickly down here...
Thank you so much for putting up with a soon to be noob babywearer
Re: So sorry... another Mei Tai question.
IMO the Freehand and Babyhawk are about the same "weight" and supportiveness. The biggest difference is that the Babyhawk has a headrest and the Freehand has little leg extenders and is a bit wider.
Between the two, I like the Babyhawk best for newborns because the leg extenders on the Freehand make it harder to scrunch in for legs out. I also like the headrest for wee ones. But really you can't go wrong with either ;-)

Thank you! I went ahead and ordered a Freehand, because I got terribly overwhelmed on the babyhawk site. I just couldn't chose, and they didn't have any ready to order that I liked.
I went with the Eleanor....cute owl pattern. I can''t wait to get it and try it out. I may or may not be practicing with one of my DD's baby dolls.....lol
