What did you consider 2nd Tri?

I am getting confused about when the second trimester starts. According to Baby Center it's after thirteen weeks. According another place I found, it's after 12 weeks. I haven't heard anything from my doctor one way or the other yet, although I go back in for my NT scan at 12w4d. Trying to figure out when the major danger is passed, when to tell work, and when to tell my grandmother.....

Most wait until after the 12-week appt (after your NT scan, for example) and then feel comfortable sharing their news.

If you take 40 weeks and divide by 3, the closes you can get is that each trimester lasts 13 weeks and 2 days (thus giving you a total of 39 weeks and 6 days).

As a factual answer, I'd say 13, but after 12 weeks (and a good u/s), I always felt like we were out of the danger zone. Actually, after seeing the HB, which is super early, risk of mc goes down to 1-3%. So the risk is still very low even during most of the first tri.
