This morning while I was driving to work, I was sitting in a line of cars at a stoplight and happened to look over just in time to see a car pull out of a side street and hit a bike rider who had just started to cross the side street.
From my angle, it looked like the bike rider was hit by the corner of the SUV bumper, and he and his bike were knocked to the ground. He stood up, and the driver got out of the car. I heard her asking if he was okay as he picked up his bike. (I think there may have been some damage to his bike, it looked like a piece of something was laying on the ground where his bike was knocked over.)
Of course by this time, the light had changed, and the line of cars was moving forward past the accident. The SUV in front of me went through the light and did an illegal u-turn, and appeared to be headed back to the accident, but I couldn't tell for sure.
What's the best course of action in this type of incident? Should I call the police? Stop and get involved? WWYD?

Ditto. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but I would have moved on bc I wouldn't feel like I had anything to contribute.
Usually if I am at a spot where I can pull over/stop safely, I'll pull over and give the person who was hit my contact information in the event that they need a witness, etc for insurance claims. I don't usually stop if another 3rd party has already stopped though.
This is what I would do. I thought you had to stop if you witnessed an accident? I've only seen one and I did stop and wait until the cops arrived. Having been in an accident where another person was clearly at fault and totalled my car, I was very appreciative of the people who stopped. They helped me out get out of the road (hwy 79) and talked with the cops.
I'd pull over and give my info as a witness too.
When my husband was in a motorcycle accident, the witnesses where awesome to have. Otherwise, it's just person x says and person y says.
