Spelling Advice

DH and I are planning to take 2 names to the hospital with us, Gavin and Quentin to name our LO when he's born. However, we're having an issue with the spelling of Quentin, we can't decide what we like best. So, please choose below or recommend a different spelling! NN will be likely be Quinn either way.

Re: Spelling Advice

  • If you're set on the NN Quinn, go with Quinton.  To me, Quentin is pronounced differently - Quen-tin as opposed to Quinn-ton

  • I aree with PP that it all depends on how you want the name pronounced. I prefer Quen-tin so that's my vote! I think you'd get fewer misspellings that way too.

I like both of your name choices!

  • If you are going to call him Quinn, name him Quinn.  Quinn definitely stands alone fine and then you won't run into spelling confusion.  I also think Quintin/Quinton, etc. isn't nearly as strong as Quinn.
  • The names Quinton and Quentin are pronounced two completley different ways. If you want the nick name Quinn, I would definatly go with the spelling of Quinton.

  • I agree that Quentin and Quinton are totally different. If you want the nn Quinn, give him a name that easily derives that nn, like Quinton.

  • I had an ex named Quentin and we all called him Quinn or Quince as a fun nickname (not a serious nn). So you can do as you please for a nn.
