I just had my first. He refused to get in position for a vaginal birth so I ended up with a c-section. I'm anxiously preparing for my 6 week check up. DH and I would like to have our children close together. But I'm fearing the doctor will disapprove since I had a c-section.
Anyone have stories or advice here? I guess I'm wondering if it's common practice to have to wait, if it's super risky, or what...
Re: C-Section Mamas...
I got the clearance to ttc at my 6 week checkup whenever I felt ready. The uterus is mostly done healing by then. My OB said there was a slightly increased risk of premature birth, but nothing so drastic I should be concerned. I had an easy 2nd pregnancy and went to 39.5 weeks.
If having a VBAC is important to you, some OBs want over 18 months between births. Some doctors are more lax-my dr would let me try a VBAC with births 12.5 months apart.
GL!
I got pg with DS2 when DS1 was 6 months old. This time DS2 was 12 1/2 months when we found out. My OB told me it's perfectly fine. The only reason you might want to wait is if you are wanting a VBAC. My doctor likes there to be 18 months between pg if a patient wants a VBAC but he said would be okay with 12 months. It didn't matter to me b/c I never intended or wanted to do a VBAC
With my first I ended in an unplanned section and when they took him out (he was 10lbs, 2oz) they tore a major artery in my uterus. I was told I should wait 18 months between births, especially if I want to try for a VBAC. There will be 19 months between them, 18.5 if I go with the RCS.
Even if the dr disapproves, ultimately it is your body and your choice, you will just want to do what feels right and is in the best interest of your family.
