I bought a bag of frozen shrimp, been cravin it like no other. Is it okay to take it right out of the freezer and eat it raw (obviously after putting it in hot water to thaw), or do I have to cook it somehow? Before pregnancy I used to LOVE cold, raw shrimp... If I have to cook it, how would you suggest cooking it?
Re: Shrimp question?
It isn't recommended that pregnant people eat raw food (which is why I'm still mourning my loss of sushi). Are you sure they are uncooked? A lot of frozen shrimp is pre-cooked, in which case you can just thaw it.
If it is raw, I'd sautee them in a little bit of olive oil with garlic. If you're a shrimp cocktail person, you can just boil them.

Um...you definitely have to cook it. You shouldn't really ever eat raw seafood (except for sushi) you can get all kinds of sick from it.
If you want simple, just boil them.
this?
yeah, pregnant or not, you shouldn't ever eat raw shrimp. You must just mean cold shrimp (like shrimp cocktail). As long as it's pre-cooked, you can just defrost and eat.
Yes, it's precooked. I was implying just cold shrimp. All is well!! I can finally have me some shrimp! Thanks, everyone
Now I want shrimp. Luckily I have some at home waiting for me.
I want some now too...
If pink, you're fine. I wouldn't eat raw under any circumstances, preg or not... yuck...
