i think i need to strip J's diapers. i got a sample of sensi-something or other when i did J's diaper trial. I've tried that and i don't think it helped.
best ways to strip them? we might also need to do something more absorbant... he's been leaking through them at night (which might be solved by stripping)?? i haven't used my CDs in two weeks cause i haven't wanted to hassle with it!
Re: CD mommas
I have found the best way is just to add a 1/4 cup bleach to my first wash cycle, it works everytime. I have also found that sunning helps too. And, the original, basic Tide detergent works well too.
For night, we either use fitteds(either sustainablebabyish or some I bought off Etsy) with a fleece or wool cover or I can sometimes get away with using a hemp doubler in between 2 BG microfiber ones.
I found that I needed to strip with RLR about every 3-4 months while CD'ing full time. https://www.momsmilkboutique.com/RLR.html
I could never find a solution for overnight CD'ing -- we always just used a sposie for overnight.
Yeah, the water around here is so hard that I have to strip every few months or they get a perma-stink and don't absorb as well. I use RLR and then rinse them a milllllion times in warm water. Works well.
We use the BG Elementals and for a while I just stuck a free floating microfiber insert in there and that worked fine for night time. A couple months ago I bought three Kawaii Goodnights and I'm a big fan. They are super soft, very absorbent and the fleece that lines them feels very dry, even when the microfleece inserts are full of pee. They are also very reasonably priced.
I recently found this, but I was looking specifically to get diaper rash cream out. Does RLR do this?
Yeah. RLR is magical stuff. Don't forget to rinse a TON though--I seriously, probably do 4-6 rinse cycles when I'm stripping.
turn up the water heater so you have super hot water, I've used RLR and I regularly added funk out (rockin green) to my diaper loads to keep the smell down.
make sure you check for bubbles/ suds while rinsing and rinse until there are no more suds/bubbles.
for overnight, I used hemp inserts behind a microfibre insert. You need that layer b/c otherwise the urine will just roll to the side of the hemp.
