Two Under 2

Did you get a double stroller?

I will have my second baby just after my son turns 2. I am wondering how much I will actually use a double stroller. I figured here would be the place to ask since all of you have had the experience of kids in this age range. If you did, which kind did you get and why do you or don't you like it.

Re: Did you get a double stroller?

  • My son was only 18 months when our daughter was born, but he is almost 2 now and we still use the stroller all the time.

We have a Baby Jogger City Mini Double and love it. It's lightweight and very easy to fold. It fits through doors and has large canopies. The only thing I don't love about it is the basket is a bit hard to access.

  • My kids were 12 months apart. I did (and still do) use a double occasionally. I wear the baby/DS walks or gets pushed in the single most of the time, but it is nice to have for times where we'd be doing a lot of walking, like trips to the zoo/aquarium.

Now that DS is 2, I'd LOOOVE a sit and stand. If my age gap were closer to 2 years vs 1 year apart, I would have went for that.

I also think how much you will need it depends on if you work full time and if you will baby wear a lot. I think a double is a necessity if you're at home. Otherwise, I might hold off until baby arrives and buy it then personally.

  • I've already used my double heaps. We have a Mountain Buggy +one, it's fantastic. It's too hot to baby wear at the moment so both kiddos are in the pram for all walks.

  • DD1 was only 16.5 months when DD2 was born but even now at 2.5 and 15 months I still use our double a ton. We have a Phil & Teds that can be configured to either work as a single OR double and I love the flexibility of it.

  • I use my stroller every day! We got the city select because it is a single stroller and you can put the second seat (also stadium seating so one kid isnt stuck only looking at the other kids back) or you can use it as a single stroller with a glider board-like a sit &stand. My kids are 16 months apart but DD still likes being in the stroller. I know most kids don't at her age

the P&T has the bottom seat lower and my kids LOVE it. My oldest asks to sit down there because can see out the side just fine and it blocks the sun and wind for her and my youngest doesn't mind sitting down their either, it's hardly an issue.
