Baby Registry...when to start?

When do you all plan to start your registry?  Is there a such thing as starting one too early????

I think you should start whenever you feel comfortable, I personally don't start anything like that till I'm in the third trimester... As I told another bumpie if you start registering or buying things too soon, you may miss out on a new item that comes out a couple months later that you like more. Happens all the time.

I started mine a couple of weeks ago for no particular reason, just to have something to do and only added neutral things that I may need but really waiting for verification that baby's a boy before I add more items. Also just making it for myself. No one knows I've started registries & I don't plan to share the information until it's time to send out baby shower invites.

If you register too early, you risk the items being discontinued or the patterns of certain things changing.  I didn't register until after my a/s at 20 weeks with DD, and I think it was probably closer to 25 weeks to avoid the discontinued issue.

Once I hit 21 weeks, I started online registries.  We have added items here and there (mostly big ticket items that we didn't want to forget which brand/make/model we liked best).  We haven't been to the stores yet to add all the little things, but we plan to do that this month or next.

I started a fake one just for myself as more of a checklist, and to mark the things that we've already decided on so when we actually go and register we won't forget those things in the flurry of being completely overwhelmed with all the baby stuff.  we don't plan on registering for another few weeks. Gives me more time to search and bring items to DH's attention.

I haven't officially started my registry, but I have been researching and making a list of products that I like. I think I will officially start to register after my a/s. That will make it easier since I will know the gender then!

I have started mine, working on it slowly. My shower shouldn't be until April so I'm watching items prices ect.

 Btw your wedding picture is gorgeous!!!

I started putting one together right away, after I found out I was pregnant at 9 weeks.  Initally I just started researching what I would need and  kept coming across items thinking "oh I'll want to add that to my registry".  Eventually I figured it was easy enough to start a registry and add the items then and there so I wouldn't have to remember.  But I make changes as I go so if somethign new comes out I can always add it and delete the obsolete item.

But I haven't told anyone about the registry as right now it is function as my personal checklist.  And I certainly won't begin buying anything until the third trimester.

I am 21 weeks and started this weekend..I also put one together on Babies R Us online-plan to go to the store this weekend to look at strollers, car seats, etc..But it's for my eyes only since I'm due in May and have plenty of time..
